Founded in 1856, London’s National Portrait Gallery holds the most extensive collection of portraits in the world: over 350,000 works spanning 600 years of history. From its much-loved Tudor collection to contemporary photography, from sitters such as Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to David Hockney and Audrey Hepburn, the Collection is a seemingly endless mine of fascinating images and stories.

In Spring 2023, the Gallery will reopen its doors after the largest refurbishment it has seen since its inception. As well as transforming the building with more gallery and retail space, the redevelopment plans include a complete re-display and re-interpretation of the Gallery’s collection, presenting a diverse selection of portraits from across the ages.

The Collection has inspired licensed product from wallpaper and fabrics to womenswear and bags; from jewellery and watches to stationery and gifting. Some products use an entire portrait while others hone in on details within a portrait to create beautiful patterns and prints. With a growing roster of licensees in the UK and overseas, and the opportunity to be part of the Gallery’s reopening celebrations, the National Portrait Gallery is a brand not to be missed!
